County to Push for Bonds to Aid Fisheries
- Share via
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will try to push through the sale of bonds that would generate millions of dollars to protect programs for restoring North Coast fisheries.
In one of its first actions this year, the board is expected today to send letters to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Legislature urging the state to move forward with the sale of Proposition 40 bonds.
The state Department of Finance and resource agencies have proposed withholding the sale of Proposition 40 bonds in fiscal year 2004-05. Passed by voters in 2002, the proposition is aimed at protecting waterways and the coastal environment.
