This has been a fierce rivalry for nearly a decade. It’s also a potential preview of the West final. The Red Wings lead the NHL with 174 goals, and the scoring is well distributed, with Pavel Datsyuk leading at 24. Tomas Holmstrom has four goals in his last three games and is one of the NHL’s most abrasive but effective forwards around the net. Colorado’s big off-season signings of free agents Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne has yet to really pay off -- they haven’t scored goals in the same game -- but early-season acquisition Steve Konowalchuk has added versatility to a deep forward corps.
