Moshing mom gets a dad’s OK

I loved Pamela Wilson’s article “Mom in a Mosh Pit” [Dec. 9]. I am 51 and play drums occasionally in my son’s punk band. We cover Ramones, Clash, White Stripes, like Green Day and are very fond of Social Distortion.
I live in a gated community with a bunch of conservatives, and they can’t figure me out.
You keep having fun, Pamela, although I would draw the line at a mosh pit!

I, too, was at the Green Day concert, had a blast, and am not the typical kid in the audience. I am 51. I saw several “families” in the crowd. Just goes to show how great their music is.
Maybe the Who’s song “My Generation” (which Green Day covered on “Kerplunk,” one of their early albums) may not apply: “I hope I die before I get old.”
I don’t feel so odd anymore.
