Ex-Worker Pleads Guilty to Embezzling $300,000

A Fontana man pleaded guilty to grand-theft and tax-evasion charges Tuesday after embezzling nearly $300,000 from his employer from 2000 to 2002 and failing to report the money on his state income tax returns, according to the Franchise Tax Board.
Fernando Perez, 33, a former buyer for a Southland business, could face two years and eight months in state prison. He will be sentenced Feb. 3 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
