Jet Skiing Ex-Guard Arrested in Fraud Case

SACRAMENTO — A former Folsom Prison guard was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of workers’ compensation fraud after she was videotaped using Jet Skis and a water slide and doing back-flip dives, state officials said.
Investigators with the state departments of Corrections and Insurance said June Ann Lucena, 41, of Placerville exaggerated injuries she received in a fall from a prison tower in April 1999.
The claim cost the State Compensation Insurance Fund $170,309.
Lucena had complained of pain in her back, head, neck, shoulder and leg and told doctors she could not perform certain activities, investigators said.
Acting on a tip, investigators said they videotaped Lucena riding Jet Skis, using a water slide, doing back-flip dives off the Jet Skis and performing other activities she told doctors she couldn’t do.
She was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on one count of attempted perjury and one count of using a false statement to fraudulently obtain compensation.
