Biting back

I don’t think it’s fair for Robert Hilburn to evaluate Kevin Spacey’s performance as he would the typical pop star [“This Shark Has No Bite,” Dec. 6]. This was a unique concert involving an actor -- not a singer. Hilburn can’t expect Spacey to suddenly have the singing and performance chops of an entertainment legend like Bobby Darin.

Also, Spacey never once pretended that he was Darin during the concert (as Hilburn would lead us to believe) -- he always presented himself as paying tribute to Darin. And what a wonderful, heartfelt tribute it was.
