The body of a 64-year-old Chatsworth man missing in the mountains in Kern County since Nov. 24 was found Friday by a search team of friends and family.
A Kern County Sheriff’s Department dispatcher received the call about 10 a.m. that Robert Komenda’s body had been found, Cmdr. Rocky Lacertoso said.
Komenda’s family last saw him when he left for a day hike on 8,831-foot Mt. Pinos, authorities said.
His white Mercedes-Benz was found Thanksgiving Day at the head of McGill Trail.
Komenda was an experienced hiker but was not dressed for freezing nighttime temperatures, Lacertoso said.
He said the body was about half a mile northwest of Komenda’s destination. An autopsy is pending.
