Girl, 15, Turns Up in Riverside
Kyla Johnson, a 15-year-old Alta Loma High School student who had been missing since Friday, was found safe near a busy Riverside intersection Wednesday.
Kyla told San Bernardino County sheriff’s investigators that she had run away from home and lived on the street since Friday. Acting on a tip, investigators found Kyla near the corner of Iowa and University avenues at 4 p.m., sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Beavers said.
Kyla “said she had been living in that area since she ran away,” Beavers said. “She appeared to be in good health and didn’t appear to be assaulted. She may need to go to the hospital, just to be checked out.”
Investigators took Kyla to the Rancho Cucamonga sheriff’s station for questioning. Beavers said she was uncertain whether the girl wanted to return home, where her mother, Lisa Johnson, has waited since she last saw her daughter on Friday morning. Several community members and businesses volunteered to help Lisa Johnson in her search.
