One man was killed and four others were wounded Friday evening when a group of assailants walked up to them on a street in South Los Angeles and opened fire, police said.
Los Angeles Police Capt. Jim Miller said the attack at 66th Street and Kansas Avenue appeared to be gang-related.
Miller said the victims were standing in front of a house when they were attacked.
He said the three or four assailants then got into a waiting car and drove off.
It was not immediately clear how many of the attackers had guns or how many shots were fired.
All five victims were taken to King/Drew Medical Center, where one died, one was hospitalized and three were treated and released. The victims were not identified.
