Steve Lavin said Thursday that he had signed to become a college basketball analyst for ESPN. He’ll work games on TV and radio and also do some studio work.
“I signed the contract and mailed it to my agent this afternoon,” the former UCLA coach said from the Lakers’ training facility in El Segundo. Lavin was there to help cover the NBA draft for radio station XTRA (690, 1150).
Lavin’s agent, Bob Rosen of New York, will look over the contract before sending it on to ESPN.
Lavin’s ESPN salary will decrease the amount UCLA owes him for buying out his contract -- $578,000 next year and $153,000 each of the following four years.
