Now the Yankees, Those Are Dull Winners
Regarding the letter by Ralph S. Brax [June 14], who wrote, “Sometimes a team can ... win and be dull, like the Boston Red Sox,” I have only one question: On what planet are the Red Sox dull winners? As a Red Sox loyalist, I want to go there.
On Earth, the Red Sox have won exactly zero World Series since the Woodrow Wilson administration. In addition, they have tortured generations of fans by inventing the most imaginative ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. As a small sampling, do the names Bucky and Buckner mean anything to you?
Creative losers? Maybe. Dull winners? Never!
