From Times Wire Reports
Colombian jet fighters forced a twin-engine plane carrying a ton of cocaine to land and confiscated the drug, valued at $30 million, military officials said.
The plane, which bore a Mexican registration, apparently was bound for Central America, probably en route to the U.S., officials said.
The passengers escaped after the plane landed at an airport in Magangue, about 300 miles north of Bogota, the capital. Police later arrested six suspects.
