Detective, Two Others Injured in Car Accident

An LAPD detective driving an unmarked patrol car was injured Saturday in a crash in Boyle Heights that left two people in a second car hurt, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 1:30 a.m. when the detective’s car slammed into the side of a car that turned left in front of it on North Mission Road, according to an initial police report. The detective, whose name was not released, was treated for cuts to his face, police said.
Two men in the other car were taken to County-USC Medical Center. The driver was hospitalized in serious condition; his passenger was listed as being in critical but stable condition. The exact cause of the crash was being investigated.
