A 22-year-old Fillmore man died Friday night when he was ejected from his four-wheel all-terrain vehicle and landed on his head, authorities said Saturday.
Jaime Lopez and Christian Loza were riding their vehicles in the dry bed of the Santa Clara River just east of Fillmore. When Lopez hit a bump and lost control about 7:15 p.m., Loza rode off to find a telephone and called 911, authorities said.
A Ventura County Sheriff’s Department helicopter landed near the crash site and airlifted Lopez to Simi Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:27 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
