Motorist Is Arrested in Death of Pedestrian

An Orange man was jailed on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter Thursday after he struck and killed a pedestrian trying to cross the Garden Grove Freeway, authorities said.
Jose Luis Navarro, 38, was eastbound at high speed about 3 a.m. when his car hit an unidentified 35-year-old man, killing him, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Navarro, who wasn’t injured, was arrested and booked on suspicion of two counts of driving under the influence and one count of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. He was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
