Marine Killed in a Fall in Iraq Is Identified as Santee Resident

SANTEE, Calif. — A Marine who was killed when he fell off a roof while on duty in Iraq was identified by military officials as an 18-year-old Santee man.
Lance Cpl. Cory Ryan Geurin died Tuesday when he fell about 60 feet from the roof of a palace in Babylon, Iraq, where he had been standing guard, the Pentagon said. The cause of the fall was under investigation.
Geurin was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division in Twentynine Palms.
Geurin’s family, reached at their home in Santee, declined to comment Wednesday.
