It’s Fox’s turn to grit its teeth and broadcast the Sept. 21 ceremony, which this year has the potential to be a virtual infomercial for HBO. But with major nominations for such key series as “24,” “The Bernie Mac Show” and “American Idol,” Fox Entertainment President Gail Berman is pleased. “This is the cherry on the cake of what we’ve been trying to do,” Berman said. “We’ve been told by many in the industry that we’re doing HBO-quality shows.... These nominations indicate that our shows are able to compete in the same arena.”
