Beanie Sigel goes to court
Rapper Beanie Sigel got good news and bad news Wednesday at a Philadelphia court hearing on an assault charge. The judge threw out a felony assault count, but upheld two misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident in January in which Sigel (real name: Dwight Grant) allegedly punched a man in the face. After the hearing, federal officials arrested Sigel pending another hearing Monday on a separate charge of possessing a weapon without a license.
Also on Monday, Sigel will face a preliminary hearing on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a weapon in connection with a shooting earlier this month.
