Pepper Spray Used in Melee at High School

Eight people were arrested and seven, including an assistant principal, were taken to local hospitals Thursday after authorities used pepper spray to subdue high school students throwing milk cartons and plastic soda bottles.
Silverado High School Principal Susan Levine said trouble started with a lunchtime dispute between black and Latino students, although she didn’t know what set the two sides off.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Rodie O’Keefe said the arrested students had been released to their parents.
Levine said that anyone participating in the disruption would be suspended.
