Oxnard Man Found Shot to Death in His Vehicle
A 35-year-old Oxnard man was found dead in his car early Wednesday, the victim of an apparent homicide, police said.
Ralph Lopez was slumped over the wheel of his Buick Skyhawk, parked in the 400 block of North Grant Avenue in Oxnard, about 7:15 a.m., said Oxnard Sgt. Jim Seitz. Police said it appeared that Lopez had been shot several times. The driver’s side window was shattered.
An autopsy is scheduled to be completed today.
Authorities have few clues about what happened. Seitz said neighbors told police they did not see anything, and although they heard gunshots Tuesday night, no one called police. There was no indication of a robbery, Seitz said, and the incident doesn’t appear to be gang-related.
“It’s kind of strange,” he said. “It almost seems like somebody was looking for him.”
Investigators spent the day interviewing Lopez’s ex-wife, his mother, whom he lived with in Oxnard, and several of his relatives, Seitz said.
Police asked that anyone with information about the case call investigators at 385-7662.
