Judge Stops Admission in Slain Radio Host Case

The husband of a slain radio host tried to tell a judge he did not need a lawyer and wanted to admit what he had done.
Judge Thea Sherry cut off Thomas Erbland Jr. twice in midsentence. She advised him of his right to remain silent and his right to an attorney.
A not guilty plea was automatically entered on his behalf, and he remained jailed without bail.
Erbland, 43, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal assault in the shooting death of his wife, Nan Wyatt, on Tuesday.
