Insult Added to Injuries

The Kings’ injury woes have even attracted the attention of Mighty Duck Coach Mike Babcock, who said he wouldn’t discuss the Ducks’ recent spate of injuries because “that team down the road talks about injuries all the time.”

The Kings have lost 214 man-games to injury this season and are on pace to surpass last season’s total of 536, the third-highest in NHL history.

King Coach Andy Murray, when asked about Babcock’s comments, said he was “too concerned with trying to coach my team, and my focus is on that. I really don’t have time to think about what the coach of another team is thinking.”

Center Derek Armstrong, sidelined since Nov. 15 because of a fractured finger, could begin non-contact skating this week.

Armstrong was going to the net against the St. Louis Blues when he was hit in the left hand by Ziggy Palffy’s slap shot. He was tied for the team lead with six goals.
