Stripes fan

Robert Hilburn wrote an excellent review of this year’s lean pickings for the Grammy Awards (“Thud! -- A Grammy Low?” Nov. 30).

I am so glad a mature, experienced writer found the White Stripes and understands their impact. I bought “Elephant” based on having read about the band, then, within days, bought the other three releases and have since been touting Jack White as the most important artist to emerge in years. I’m 48, so this is not a “wow, Jack’s cute” sort of thing! I am a huge Beatles, Stones, Zep, Springsteen fan and, just based on four albums, I think Jack will eventually stand among them.
