UC, Teaching Assistants Union Avert Strike

Officials of the University of California and a union representing its teaching assistants, readers and tutors said Wednesday that they had reached a tentative contract agreement, averting a strike that was scheduled to begin today.
Details of the contract weren’t released, pending ratification by union members.
