Man Gets 11 Years for Injuring Officer, Dog

A former convict who severed a police dog’s tail and whose car dragged a California Highway Patrol officer in an attempt to flee has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
James Lorenz pleaded guilty last month to seven charges, including felony assault on a peace officer and serious injury to a police dog, Deputy Dist. Atty. Steven Schriver told City News Service. He was sentenced late Tuesday.
CHP Officer Jason Nicoletti suffered abrasions and bruises after being dragged a short distance by Lorenz’s car in May.
