ITALY
An Italian policeman rescued a woman attempting suicide online, gleaning enough personal details to alert emergency services and save her life, the news agency ANSA reported.
The woman announced in an Internet chat room that she was going to kill herself and then began swallowing tablets. Fellow chatters could see the suicide attempt unfolding via Web cam.
The policeman coaxed her cell phone number from her, allowing authorities to track her down just outside Naples.
