Weekend box office
Powered by five films grossing in double figures, the weekend box office outperformed the previous weekend by an eye-raising 33.8%, Exhibitor Relations Co. reported Monday. Meanwhile, “Grind” debuted out of the top 10 with $2.5 million for the weekend while the quirky black comedy, “American Splendor,” opened with $159,705 at six theaters for a healthy per-theater average of $26,618.
