Noisy Jets
The relative quiet of Porter Ranch has been broken on a regular basis in the last few months by the roar of jet planes flying overhead as early as 7 a.m. and throughout the day into the evening, including weekends. As a resident of the area for more than 20 years, I had never heard such a steady flow of jets until recently. I was told by Rep. Brad Sherman’s (D-Sherman Oaks) office that it was all legal as decreed by the Federal Aviation Administration so long as the planes didn’t fly below 1,000 feet.
I guess this is big government in action. No advice or consent by its taxpaying citizens is required. But that constant din in the sky could provide a hidden benefit. It could result in a decrease in the value of home prices in Porter Ranch, perhaps a welcome development in today’s inflated housing market.
