Re “State’s Coolest Pool?” Aug. 10: I too have toured Hearst Castle in San Simeon and gazed longingly at that gorgeous pool. The state is overlooking a golden opportunity to contribute to its coffers on a voluntary basis. I for one would gladly pay $100 for a “90-minute” dip in the Neptune Pool -- provided it was a classy experience among a reasonable number of “guests,” not a throng of hundreds.
Why couldn’t a few tour times be devoted to “high-end” tours, “the San Simeon experience,” including a Neptune session? Add luncheon, or California wine and cheese, and charge $150 per person. All they need to do is give us something we really want and we’ll happily ante up.
Peter Ueberroth, are you listening?
