Man Sent to Prison for Trying to Threaten Bush

A man who tried to threaten President Bush, a U.S. senator and a U.S. attorney by mailing them envelopes containing powder has been sentenced to 51 months in prison, the U.S. attorney’s office said Monday.
U.S. District Judge Susan Illston handed down the sentence to Richard Wayne Sutton, 29, of Sagus on Friday following a guilty plea. Sutton admitted that he mailed three envelopes containing white or brown powder to Bush, San Francisco-based U.S. attorney Kevin Ryan and U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) between December 2001 and August 2002, prosecutors said.
