Fire Imperils Homes in Chino Hills
From Staff and Wire Reports
A 20-acre fire briefly threatened two dozen homes before firefighters extinguished the flames, authorities said.
A 100-yard firebreak between the homes and the dry grass fueling the flames prevented property damage, said Tony Landin, a spokesman for the Chino Valley Fire District.
“This is a perfect example of the importance of clearing your dry vegetation,” he said.
About 100 firefighters extinguished the blaze, which broke out at about 5:30 p.m. The cause is under investigation.
