Cooking Gas Blast Kills at Least 43

Three buildings in the city of Surat, India, collapsed when a cooking gas cylinder exploded, killing at least 43 people, police said.
Searchers using dogs pulled bodies from beneath concrete slabs and mounds of debris, said V.K. Gupta, city police commissioner.
Gupta said the explosion was believed to be accidental. About 100 people worked or lived in the buildings, said Manoj Sorathiya, a nearby resident.
