Girona Old and New

My thanks to writer Barry Zwick for painting the portrait of Girona, Spain, with such a lavish paintbrush (“Landing in the Middle Ages,” Sept. 9). My five days in Girona last June were a Dr. Jekyll-and-Mr. Hyde experience of the new and very old.
I spent every free moment exploring the cobblestone lanes, the winding alleys, the pastel-colored old river houses and the early-morning fruit and vegetable market.
