Man Who Claimed to Be a Prophet Gets Jail
Egypt sentenced a man who claimed to be a prophet to three years in prison for insulting religion and promoting extreme ideas, court sources said.
Sayed Tolba, who claimed that he knew the secret of the universe and that God had sent him messages from angels, was tried with 20 followers who had attended lessons in his home.
The court sentenced one of the followers to a year at hard labor on the same charges as Tolba. It gave 18 others suspended sentences of one year for insulting Islam and fined another follower $216.
