Man Pleads Not Guilty in Death of’N Sync Fan

A Sylmar man accused of running over and killing an ‘N Sync fan as she waited outside a Burbank radio station pleaded not guilty Thursday to a murder charge.

Cameron Duty, 23, made a brief appearance in Pasadena Superior Court, where he was arraigned in the death of Anna White, 21, who was run down Sept. 9 outside the studios of KIIS-FM (102.7).

Duty, who remains in custody in lieu of $1-million bail, backed his pickup over White and dragged her for more than a block before leaving the area without calling authorities, Burbank police said.

Witnesses told police that Duty was playing loud music from his truck’s stereo and appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, Burbank Police Lt. Tim Stehr said.

A preliminary hearing was set for Oct. 29. Duty’s attorney, Eddie Tolmas, said he would not comment on the specifics of the case. He said more time was needed to obtain and review additional evidence.

White, a Burbank resident and student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, was waiting to see ‘N Sync singer Justin Timberlake when she was hit, police said.

She died a short time later at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
