A judge set bail at $250,000 Wednesday for a Laguna Niguel man charged with sexual assault in connection with acupressure treatments.
Shin Higashiura, 55, appeared in a Newport Beach courtroom on four counts of sexual assault, but his arraignment was postponed until Oct. 4, a court clerk said.
Higashiura, 55, is also the subject of an immigration hold for overstaying his visa, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Higashiura was arrested Sept. 18 at the rented home he used as an office on suspicion of digital penetration by fraud, Amormino said.
Higashiura is not a physician, nor is he licensed to offer acupuncture/acupressure treatments, Amormino said.
