Three men accused by the government of supporting terrorism and acting as a “sleeper cell” pleaded not guilty to conspiring to provide material support or resources to terrorists.
Federal authorities allege Karim Koubriti, 24, Ahmed Hannan, 34, and Farouk Ali-Haimoud, 22, acted as “a covert underground support unit” and an “operational combat cell” for a radical Islamic movement connected with the Al Qaeda terrorist network.
The three were arraigned Friday in federal court in Detroit on the single conspiracy charge. Trial is set for January.
