Banderas’ theater debut

I love Liz Smith’s column and I read it religiously. She gets everything right 98% of the time. But she is wrong when she says that Antonio Banderas will make his stage debut when he appears in a revival of “Nine” on Broadway (“Rivera will turn heat up to ‘Nine,’ ” Oct. 17).

I have seen Banderas perform in starring roles in many major theatrical productions in Madrid, both before and after he became a star in the films of director Pedro Almodovar. What Smith should have said is that Banderas will be making his American stage debut when he appears in “Nine.”
