Islamic Militants Kill 13 in 2 Days of Fighting

A militant group suspected of links to Al Qaeda killed nine soldiers and four police officers in the last few days, Algeria’s official news agency APS reported.
The gunfights, which reportedly also left two militants dead, were the latest bloodshed in a 10-year Islamic insurgency.
Militants of the Salafist Group for Call and Combat ambushed soldiers 110 miles east of the capital Saturday, killing nine. Four police officers were killed Thursday night and Friday morning in Boumerdas, 30 miles east of Algiers.
