3 Teens Sentenced to Jail in Hate-Crime Attack

Three 18-year-olds convicted of a hate-crime attack on elderly Mexican migrants were sentenced Wednesday to county jail.
Prosecutors and migrants-rights activists had recommended prison. But Superior Court Judge James Milliken said that the three had no previous criminal records and that sending them to prison would turn them into hardened criminals.
Adam Ketsdever and Bradley Davidofsky were given two years in county jail for the July 2000 attack in which five migrants were beaten. Steve Deboer was given one year.
Five other teenagers had already been sentenced.
