Trojans Defeat Colorado State
Sophomore Rachel Woodward made a three-point basket with eight seconds left to lead USC past No. 19 Colorado State, 59-58, Sunday at Denver in the second round of the preseason women’s NIT.
The Trojans (2-0), who held the Rams (1-1) to two baskets in the first nine minutes of the second half, advance to the semifinals and will play at No. 5 Kansas State on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Kansas State (2-0) used a 13-0 run to take a 69-48 lead over Georgia Tech (1-1) with 10 minutes left at Manhattan, Kan., and the Wildcats won, 85-59.... Kelly Mazzante scored 33 points to lead No. 14 Penn State (2-0) to a 90-61 victory over Siena (1-1) at State College, Pa. The Lions will play host to No. 24 Mississippi State in the semifinals.... LaToya Thomas scored 42 points to lead Mississippi State (2-0) to a 92-66 victory over Tulsa (1-1) at Starkville, Miss.
