Thune Won’t Contest Loss in Senate Race

Republican Rep. John R. Thune said he would not seek a recount in his U.S. Senate race against Democratic incumbent Tim Johnson, who won by 524 votes.
The margin, set in the official state canvass Tuesday, was well within the 0.25% margin that entitles the loser to a recount. However, Thune told reporters it was in the best interest of the state for him to accept the results.
