YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK — Two hikers from Oregon were rescued by helicopter Wednesday after heavy snow stranded them for six days on the side of a rugged mountain.
Teri Smith, 35, and Chris Hoffman, 36, had set out for a five-day trek. The forecast called for rain, so they left their snowshoes behind.
When a snowstorm blew in last Thursday, dumping 4 feet, they hunkered down and spelled “SOS” in the snow.
