GE Plans to Strengthen Independent Oversight
General Electric Co. is expected to announce a series of corporate governance measures today, including the appointment of a presiding director to lead meetings of independent board members.
The presiding director will lead at least three meetings annually for the company’s board without management present, GE Chairman and Chief Executive Jeffrey R. Immelt said.
GE will implement a stock ownership requirement for the top 23 executives based on salary, Immelt said.GE shares closed up 10 cents at $26 on the New York Stock Exchange.
