Government Prohibits Ads for U.S. Products

Iran has barred its press and broadcasters from running advertisements for U.S. products.
State television said the Ministry of Islamic Culture and Guidance ordered the press to halt the advertisements. The ban follows a similar self-imposed move by the state-owned broadcasting monopoly, controlled by staunch conservatives.
The U.S. imposes tight trade sanctions on Iran, but many American products make it here through third countries.
