From Staff and Wire Reports
Nevada County is offering antibiotics to its residents, after bacterial meningitis began showing up in recent weeks.
A nurse has been dispensing the medication at Bell Hill School, after a second-grader contracted the infection Friday. A 26-year-old man was also diagnosed with bacterial meningitis, but officials couldn’t say whether the cases are related.
Symptoms include high fever, nausea and vomiting. Left untreated, it can be fatal.
