3 Schools Chosen for Blue Ribbon Awards
Three Ventura County campuses have been designated as Blue Ribbon Schools, one of public education’s top awards.
Colina Middle School and Thousand Oaks High School in the Conejo Valley Unified School District and Chaparral Middle School in the Moorpark Unified School District are among 30 California middle and high schools to win the national Blue Ribbon award for 2001-2002.
“It means a tremendous amount to us,” said Margaret Saleh, assistant principal in Colina.
Nationwide, 172 secondary schools were named Blue Ribbon Schools. They will be honored at a ceremony in Washington this fall.
Winning schools are chosen by the U.S. Department of Education after an extensive application process, and elementary and secondary schools are recognized in alternating years.
