Escaped Horse Runs Into Car and Dies
From Times Staff Reports
A horse running loose in the street ran into an oncoming car and died, authorities said.
The animal had thrown its rider and leaped out of its corral about 9 p.m. Friday. A deputy on patrol in the area saw the horse running away at high speed, Sheriff’s Sgt. Philip Brooks said.
Almost immediately, the horse ran into a car in the 28000 block of Driver Avenue. The motorist was uninjured but the car appeared to be totaled, authorities said.
Although there are many horse properties in the area, such accidents are “very rare,” Brooks said.
