Illness of Soldiers in Afghanistan Identified

The Defense Ministry said it had identified the ailment that has affected dozens of British troops in Afghanistan as “winter vomiting.”
Officials told journalists at a briefing that the illness is characterized by one or two days of vomiting and diarrhea.
A total of 40 service personnel have been afflicted at a field hospital at Bagram air base near Kabul, the Afghan capital.
The field hospital has been closed and more than 300 people have been quarantined.
Several outbreaks were reported this year in Britain.
