Security was increased at the Central Justice Center on Tuesday after 30 demonstrators rallied in support of a Long Beach man arrested on suspicion of possessing explosives and making terrorist threats.
About 50 Orange County sheriff’s deputies and Santa Ana officers were at the courthouse before the 9 a.m. protest on behalf of Matthew Gordon Lamont, 20, who was arrested in La Habra on April 20. Long Beach police said they found him with materials to make a Molotov cocktail that he planned to use at a birthday celebration for Hitler.
After about two hours, the demonstrators were escorted away by a sheriff’s SWAT team. No one was arrested, authorities said.
